I'm Too Busy (Lovin' You)

"I'm Too Busy (Lovin' You) is eleven new recordings of songs that I have written over the past eight years.

As with the last album of my songs Four Flowers recorded in 2007, these songs were recorded at Fracas Music Studios in Byron Bay and were produced by Phil Pyne and the (Phil Half-manic) band. Thanks to Phil for his talent and musicality, with not only great musical ideas, but musicianship on a wide range of instruments including, bass, guitar, organ and keyboards.

Special thanks to Chris Aronsten for his talented contribution of violin, mandolin and guitar heard throughout the album. Will Graham for his wonderful piano and keyboards, Arlo Pyne for his drums.

Thanks also to Sarah McGregor for once again gracing my songs with her beautiful voice. Thanks to Stu Eadie for drums and percussion, Paul Dorahy, long-term friend and band member for his bass and Rus Shaw (Rusty Steel) for his accoustic and electric guitars and input to all my music and great musical times over many years. Thanks also to Sue Press my beautiful friend and partner for her support, encouragement and tolerance of my music (especially this album). Love as always to my 2 beautiful daughters Claire and Athelie and to the memory of our beautiful daughter/sister Lynne Haselgrove who should still be with us."

Four Flowers

The loss of a child is one of the cruelest blows that a parent can suffer. Bereaved parents are forced to do what they see as impossible... learn to rebuild their life without their beloved child.

Four Flowers is the debut album of work to be released by Paul Haselgrove and Rusty Steel, a mature collection of original songs that deal with love and loss, all the while retaining a sense of humor. The title song relates the tragic events of the death of Paul’s daughter Lynne in a car accident at the age of 20 in 2002.

“Four Flowers is a selection of songs that I have written over the past 5 years. As much as anything else it was driven by the desire to get the song ‘Four Flowers’ recorded so that the families and friends of Lynne, Maxine, Meagan, and Kenzo can have memories of them invoked in song. I hope that the memory of those lives continues to give strength to all that knew and loved them.” – Paul Haselgrove

Paul has a voice that has been compared to Johnny Cash… and as much life experience to match. In 1971 he met up with Russel Shaw and there was an instant musical connection which has seen Paul and Russ play in many bands initially touring around Victoria and more recently in Byron Bay where they both live.

The musical style of Rusty Steel drifts between tear jerking country and rollicking rock and roll. With comparisons made to Jerry Jeff Walker, John Prine and others, this album is a collection of short stories, most based on the events mentioned above and the trickle down effects of such unfathomable heartbreak. Other songs are painfully honest personal reflections; others are heartfelt and believable social comments. For example, This Place, written in 2001 focuses on the need for all human beings to work together to arrest global warming.

Recorded and produced by Phil Pyne at Fracas Studios in Byron early 2007 and featuring some of the areas finest musicians Four Flowers is a fine debut.
